NEWSWORTHY | The Legal Counseling Clinic For People Deprived Of Liberty joint extension activity by the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, College of Law, and College of Criminal Justice Education aimed to educate the detainees of the Provincial Jail of Ilocos Sur via discussion of pertinent penal laws and offering free legal advice.
UNP College of Law professors Atty. Meilyn Padua and Atty. Mirela Versoza flaunted their expertise as panel of speakers, thoroughly discussing the Rights of the Accused and Good Conduct Time Allowance Law, respectively. Also, Mr. Mark Edzel Pablico from the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy shared his knowledge on Moral and Spiritual Development.
Shear collective intelligence was in full display during the open forum as College Dean Atty. Yaye Lares, Atty. Kent Alvin Guzman, and Atty. Kristalyn Vega-Alves joined Atty. Meilyn Padua and Atty. Mirela Versoza in answering the legal queries of the detainees.
To accommodate the overwhelming queries, the free legal clinic was simultaneously conducted by the LSG officers during the open forum. Conducting free legal clinics is one of the mediums where LSG officers and law students alike foster public service and apply what they have learned in law school.
It may be a run-of-the-mill day to say the least, but the experience was fruitful and rewarding!
